Yarn bombing July 2013 at The Sculpture Games event

Wow.  What a weekend!  There was so much going on in downtown Loveland it was amazing.  There was the Loveland Loves Bands, Brews, and BBQ event that brought in yummy local beer, terrific music, and incredible BBQ.  The Sculpture Games was at the Loveland Feed & Grain.  Ten teams of people created amazing sculptures using "junk" donated by Uncle Benny's, working Friday night and Saturday.  A people's choice was chosen and the sculptures were silent auctioned with much humor and competition!

Happy people playing with yarns!

Folks came by to help from Loveland, Fort Collins, Berthoud, and even Ohio!  Lots of kids came and pitched in.  One little boy was very inventive with yarn and made a lovely yarn web.  Other kids wrapped rocks in yarn for tailgate decorations, while others wrapped the turn signals and door handles.

Beautiful door handle!

Our adult knitter/crocheters created lovely bits of worked yarn.  The headlights were created by Sally, complete with light beams coming out.

Kathy and Monica made a loom and started to weave a tail gate.

found in the "stuff" under the seat during the cleaning.

One of our generous sponsors, My Sister Knits gave us wonderful crazy fun novelty yarn that was a blast to knit up!  We also got lovely bright yarn in fun colors and textures from Your Daily Fiber that was so much fun!  Much of the very important plain acrylic yarn was donated to the cause by Gina Hooten and Paula Becker from the Northern Colorado Weavers Guild group.  Thank You to all our wonderful Sponsors!

We knit and crocheted along off and on during the day, there was music and laughter and the smells of barbecue to entertain us.  All the the bits of worked yarn (which all happened to be knitted) we gathered together about 1 p.m. and I started to attach them together and to the frame I had created from wire donated by Uncle Benny's.  It was the wackiest jig saw puzzle I have ever done.

Such fun yarns and colors and textures!

Thank you to all who came out to help!  Abi, Allie, Curtis, Aidan, Sally, Monica, Kathy, Carol, Cora, Kathryn, and a couple of other folks who didn't sign in.  (Send me an email if you helped and aren't on the list!)

I had a great time and can't wait until we do it again!

Thanks for setting up and running this yarn bombing. I thought I was just going to stop by, and then I got pulled in and tried things I've never done before. Such fun!
